Thermal Solutions
CUBE6 offer the next generation of pre-cast floors
The Complete Thermal floor system comprises of our 150mm deep beam together with a moulded lightweight solid core polystyrene panel that interlocks on the underside of the beam & finishes flush the top. The floor is then covered with a structural concrete topping. The system meets with the more stringent requirements of the Part L Building Regulations and is approved by the British Board of Agrément.
Beam and Expanded Polystyrene System
The system improves the thermal efficiency of the building providing a higher level of home comfort and ensures reduced heating costs.
CUBE6 offer 3 systems of insulation Standard, Platinum and Customised which achieve U Values between 0.22 and 0.10W/m2K respectively.
Floor U Values
The chart below outlines the benefits of using the Thermal Floor System over alternative floor construction makeup.
EPS Panels
The panels are easy to handle weighing only 2kg each and cover the same area of five standard building blocks. This increases the speed of installation and reduces the health and safety problems associated with repetitive handling of materials & cutting of blocks with noisy machinery.
Each block measures 1200mm long and covers more than five times the area of a standard building block. The panels each weigh only 2.00 kg and arrive on site in packs shrink wrapped in polythene which can be carried comfortably by one person.
Cost Savings
The Thermal Floor achieves U Values in excess of the Part L regulations without the need for additional insulation. The concrete topping forms the final floor finish which in turn reduces the overall construction height. The system is proven to be as cost effective as the traditional beam and block floor.
Structural Floor Topping
Minimum 60mm thick structural topping to one of the following specifications; C30 concrete reinforced with A142 mesh, or C30 concrete incorporating 0.91kg/m-3 of Fibrin 23 polypropylene fibres, or C35 self levelling/compacting concrete incorporating 0.75kg/m-3 of Fibrin PC12 polypropylene.
Sustainability
The green credentials of EPS are unsurpassed.
EPS has...
- Zero ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential) as the expanding/blowing agent used in the expansion process is Pentane which does not affect the ozone layer.
- Zero GWP (Global Warming Potential). 1 credit score towards the overall code level rating.
- Green Guide summary rating of ‘A+’providing a credit score of 3 towards the overall code level rating.
- CFC and HCFC – free
- It is 98% air.
The energy used in the production of the EPS (embodied energy) is saved many times over throughout the life of the buildings in which it is installed. Initial recovery is thought to be within the first 15 years, thus reducing your dwellings carbon footprint.
